Guests of Honor

He received his B.A. in Physics, Classics, and the Integrated Science Program fromNorthwestern in 2000, and his Ph.D. in theoretical cosmology from Florida in 2006. He has a myriad of scientific publications and has been doing science writing since January, 2008.

 

He has held numerous jobs, including as a high school teacher, University instructor, andresearch scientist before moving to Portland, OR, where he taught at University of Portlandbefore starting his current job.

His passion is for sharing his knowledge of the world with others and learning more about it for himself. He can currently be found Professing at Lewis & Clark College, volunteering atthe Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, and renovating an old school bus into an off-grid mobile home. He is available for talks, seminars and conferences.

His current hobbies include writing, cooking, weight training, hiking/backpacking, guitar playing, and dancing. He is married to a fantastic woman named Jamie, and they have two dogs together, Cordelia and Ava.

Mission

Our primary focuses are literacy and education. To that end, we have held an annual convention in Memphis, TN for over two decades hosting numerous authors, editors, scientists, and artists. We also hold a free seminar for educators and librarians, a writers' conference with workshops by award winning authors and editors, and annual student art and writing contests.

Non-Profit

MidSouthCon is presented by Mid-South Science and Fictions Conventions Inc. a non-profit type 501(c)(3) Corporation. Donations are welcome (and are tax deductible).
