Educational Projects

Midsouth Science and Fiction Conventions, Inc. (MidSouthCon) is a 501 (c) (3) not for profit educational organization. Our prime focus is literacy and education. To that end we hold an annual convention in Memphis, TN. For over 20 years our convention has brought numerous SF authors, editors, scientists, and artists to Memphis for conferences, panels, art displays, etc. .

Seminar: SF in the classroom.

Over the past few years we have been holding a free mini-conference within our convention for educators and librarians, which included panels by award winning authors and educators on the topics of education in the future and the use of SF (science fiction) resources in the classroom.

MidSouthCon is proud to announce its fifth annual seminar on education. All teachers and librarians (along with any other interested scholars) are invited to attend this seminar. It will feature panel discussions by professionals in education, science, and science fiction writing.

Registration for the three hour seminar is free (seminar attendees are invited to tour the convention afterwards, and may attend MidSouthCon for the weekend at a special rate). For additional information about the seminar or MidSouthCon, e-mail us at info@midsouthcon.org. You may also contact us by phone at either (731) 664-6730 or (901) 493-0275.

Student Writing and Art Contest

This year we will be conducting our forth annual writing and art contest for K-12 students. Prizes will be awarded at the convention, but winners do not have to attend to receive their prize. For more information see the Student Contest Page.
